Psychopathy and Lack of Affective Empathy: Cardiac Correlates in College Students

Previous research provides a strong argument for the hypothesis that cardiac measures are related to empathy, with empathic sadness related to a heart rate (HR) decrease and empathic happiness related to a HR increase, even compared to other physiological variables.

Integrating Data for Emotional Assessment: Applications for Interpersonal Deception and Food Interaction Decisions

The connection of sub-conscious emotions occurring “in the moment” to conscious decisions is not understood. Our project is studying unconscious (uncontrolled) activities in the brain, the face, and the body at the moment when a person is confronted with an emotional situation.

Studio STEM 2.0: Alternative Informal Learning Environments

When the after-school curriculum encompasses engineering design, the challenge is greater due to the difficulty in assessing intangibles such as design and deep conceptual knowledge. Traditional paper and pencil assessments are difficult to administer amidst the controlled chaos of engineering design and counteractive to the essence of informal learning spaces.

Dynamic Analysis of Large Datasets with Animated and Correlated Views

We introduce a GPU-accelerated visual analytics tool with the design objective to identify temporal patterns from large and complex data.

Engineering Visual analyics tool, automatic animation, disjunctive data filters, and time-synced visualization of multiple datasets
Fractional Drumming

Fractional Drumming is a prototype tool that allows students to create musical lines for different instruments that represent different patterns corresponding to fractions and then pose questions about the meaning.
